Grants Provide Over $140,000 for Jefferson County Students!

May 15, 2017

Jefferson County Schools is thrilled to announce that five elementary schools received a Read to Be Ready Summer Reading Grant totaling over $140,000 for the district!  Students entering first, second, and third grades that need extra support in reading will be invited to attend the half day program for four weeks this summer.  Highly effective teachers will be instructing small groups of children in a positive, engaging, and fun learning environment.  These lucky students will receive at least six books to take home through the program.  We believe that these summer reading programs will go a long way in both instilling a love for reading in students and in improving reading achievement. Congratulations to Dandridge Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Piedmont Elementary, Rush Strong School, and Talbott Elementary!
